Virachey National Park, one of Cambodia’s largest protected areas, spans approximately 3,325 square kilometers, bordering Vietnam to the east, Laos to the north, and Stung Streng Province to the west. Nestled in one of the most remote and pristine jungles in the country, the park showcases a striking array of landscapes—including cascading waterfalls, mountain forests, upland savannahs, bamboo thickets, and patches of mixed deciduous forest—with elevations generally ranging from 400 to 1,500 meters.
Our company, BanlungNatureTrekking Tours, has long been a pioneer in organizing jungle trekking adventures in Virachey. While the park plays a crucial role in protecting internationally significant flora and fauna, it faces serious threats from illegal logging. Much of Virachey remains unexplored and is home to rare mammals such as elephants, clouded tigers, leopards, and sun bears—though sightings of these elusive creatures are exceptionally rare. More commonly, you may hear the calls of endangered gibbons and witness great hornbills, giant ibises, Germain’s peacock-pheasants, and other rare birds.
